Dargahs and shrines allowed to reopen across Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab Auqaaf and Religious Affairs Department has announced to open shrines and dargahs for pilgrims from today (Friday). Secretary Auqaaf Punjab Nabil Javed has issued a notification in this regard.

It may be recalled that a joint statement of the All Parties Conference held at Darul Uloom Jamia Naeemia had said that keeping religious places closed while parks, hotels and colleges had reopened was beyond comprehension.

The statement demanded that the dargahs and darbaars be reopened by June 6, otherwise a protest would be staged outside the Auqaaf department on June 7, following which they would be forcibly reopened on June 10.

The joint statement had said that Al-Aqsa Mosque was the first Qiblah of the people of Islam. They had urged the rulers of the Muslim world to develop a coherent and effective strategy and take all necessary steps for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the protection of the human rights of Palestinians.
