NAB closes inquiry against Captain (retd) Safdar over lack of evidence
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Executive Board meeting has approved to close down the inquiry against PML-N leader Captain (retd) Safdar citing of lack of evidence.
A statement issued by NAB said that the reference against Ehsanullah, a former member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Revenue, has been approved. He is accused of allotting government land.
A reference against former district nazim and former mayor of Quetta was also approved. The accused, including Dr Kaleemullah, are accused of leasing government land at low prices.
The NAB Executive Board meeting also approved to file a reference against former Minister for Excise and Taxation Mir Muhammad Amin. The Board approved a total of 9 inquiries and 3 investigations.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that eradication of corruption from the country is NAB’s top priority. NAB filed 1,269 references worth billions of rupees in the courts against big fish, he added.
He said that NAB and corruption could not co-exist and that it does not belong to any political party or group but only to the state of Pakistan.
