Cyclone Tauktae: CM Sindh orders removal of billboards, cleaning of drains in Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has alerted all agencies in view of the developing Cyclone Tauktae and directed to remove billboards from Karachi.

A meeting regarding the cyclone was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh in which important decisions were taken. Murad Ali Shah directed the Commissioner Karachi, KMC and DMC to clean the city’s drains and form an emergency plan team.

He also directed the cantonment board to be ready to deal with any developing situation. Fishermen have also been alerted to not venture into the deep sea between May 17 and May 20.

The cyclone threat is developing in the Arabian Sea, some 1460 km south and southeast off the Karachi coast. It is likely to cause thunderstorms and gusty winds in Karachi and its adjoining areas.

The Meteorological Department has said that due to this system, dusty winds and showers with thunder are likely. Rain, thunderstorms and dust storms are likely in Hyderabad, Karachi, Jamshoro and Shaheed Benazirabad from May 18 to 20.
