LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday has said that nation’s cooperation in eliminating the coronavirus infection is of great importance.
In a statement, the CM said that we have to live with this pandemic by completely implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs). The government will not tolerate violation of precautionary measures at any cost, he clarified.
The reaction came after Pakistan reported 48 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 873,220. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 19,384.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 2,517 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
324,106 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 296,364 in Sindh, 126,403 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 78,969 in Islamabad, 23,778 in Balochistan, 18,186 in Azad Kashmir and 5,414 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 12,380,676 coronavirus tests and 30,700 in the last 24 hours. 780,438 patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,330 patients are in critical condition.
