Fawad Chaudhry urged opposition parties to consider government's proposals for electoral reforms.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has urged the opposition parties to consider the government’s proposals for electoral reforms.

In a tweet on Friday, he said by-election in Karachi yesterday has further necessitated the need for reforms in the electoral system. He said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) made the whole system hostage for the sake of one seat.

Fawad Chaudhry said the voter turnout showed that people are losing confidence in the election process.

It is pertinent here to mention that PPP won the by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-249 Karachi West-II, held on Thursday.

According to unofficial results of all 276 polling stations, PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhel secured 16,156 votes to win the NA-249 Karachi West-II by-election. PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail got 15,473 votes to remain second.
