Vaccination of citizens aged 50-59 starts across Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The COVID-19 vaccination of people aged 50-59 has started on Wednesday across Pakistan. The citizens are receiving jabs of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.

Preparations in this regard were finalized at Lahore’s Expo Center. CEO Health Lahore said five vaccination centers in the provincial capital and 126 across Punjab are functional. Staff and facilities will also be increased at the centers.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 148 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 772,381. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 16,600.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 5,499 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 7,664 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,559 in Sindh, 2,953 in KP, 649 in Islamabad, 446 in Azad Kashmir, 225 in Balochistan, and 104 in GB.

Furthermore 276,535 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 274,196 in Sindh, 108,462 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 70,984 in Islamabad, 21,127 in Balochistan, 15,873 in Azad Kashmir and 5,204 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 11,319,832 coronavirus tests and 47,301 in the last 24 hours. 672,619 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,528 patients are in critical condition.
