Prime Minister Imran Khan is self-isolating after contracting COVID-19: Faisal Sultan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for coronavirus, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Services Faisal Sultan said on Saturday.

As per details, SAPM in a tweet, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is self-isolating at home after testing positive. 

Imran Khan on Thursday received his first dose of a coronavirus vaccine. He, on the occasion appealed to the nation to ensure strict compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) amid third ongoing wave of the virus.


Federal Ministers wish speedy recovery to PM Imran Khan


Federal Minister for Science and Technology, in a tweet, said “Whole nation is praying for recovery of their beloved leader.”

Special Assistant to PM on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill said that Imran Khan is experiencing mild symptoms of COVID-19 and has low fever.

He prayed for his speedy recovery and said that public will be kept updated about health of the prime minister.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that the premier is perfectly fine and he was infected with the virus before receiving the COVID vaccine jab.

He further said that the UK variant of the COVID-19 is spreading sharply and urged the masses to ensure strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He added that government will also impose a ban on flights from South Africa and Brazil.

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in a tweet, wished him speedy recovery and said that whole nation is praying for him.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi prayed for the good health of PM Imran Khan.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi, while reacting to the news, was confident that the PM will recover and be "back to work in a flash".


Pakistan reports 3,876 COVID-19 new cases, highest since July 2020


Meanwhile, Pakistan has reported 3,876 COVID-19 new cases, highest since July 2020 as the number of positive cases has surged to 623,135. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 13,799.

Till now 262,796 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 195,087 in Punjab 78,653 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 50,843 in Islamabad, 19,306 in Balochistan, 11,483 in Azad Kashmir and 4,967 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
