PM Imran to preside over federal cabinet meeting today
The federal cabinet will discuss a 16-point agenda during the meeting.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal cabinet will meet today (Tuesday) in Islamabad to discuss the country’s economic and political situation, Dunya News reported.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the federal cabinet meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s office. The cabinet will discuss a 15-point agenda during the meeting.
According to sources, the meeting will also hold consultations on the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) planned sit-in.
Sources further said that the appointment of managing director of National Book Foundation will also be discussed for approval. The meeting will also discuss approval of the issuance of licences for prohibited weapons.
The approval of additional charge of Karachi Port Trust chairman is also expected during today’s meeting.
Approval of additional charge of chief executive officer (CEO) of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company is also to be taken up while review of implementation of gas development schemes is also part of the agenda.
The meeting is also expected to approve amendments to the Rules of Business, 1973. The decisions of the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms will also be ratified.
The cabinet will be briefed by the Establishment Division while the approval of guidelines for the use of Social Welfare Fund, 2021, is expected. The March 10 decision of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will be ratified and a briefing on the progress of appointment of heads of institutions is on the agenda.
