NA secretariat closed till March 16 in wake of coronavirus outbreak

KARACHI (Dunya News) – National Assembly (NA) secretariat on Sunday has been closed till March 16 to disinfect the Parliament House Building to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

As per the notification, the heads of the respective wings shall call minimum essential staff from March 17, 2021, till further orders.

All the employees who are not attending the office should remain vigilant as they can be contacted through calls, emails, watsapp to perform immediate official business. Employees who have been tested positive for coronavirus shall send their reports to the Establishment Branch, the statement further read.

The development came after Pakistan reported 32 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 605,200. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 13,508 on Sunday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 2,664 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
Till now 261,179 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 185,468 in Punjab 75,725 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 47,710 in Islamabad, 19,206 in Balochistan, 10,952 in Azad Kashmir and 4,960 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore 5,753 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,453 in Sindh, 2,153 in KP, 524 in Islamabad, 320 in Azad Kashmir, 202 in Balochistan, and 103 in GB.

Pakistan has so far conducted 9,485,702 coronavirus tests and 40,564 in the last 24 hours. 570,571 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 1,805 patients are in critical condition.
