PDM will Senate Chairman election: Yousaf Raza Gillani
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former prime minister and joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for Senate Chairmanship Yousaf Raza Gillani on Thursday said that it appears that establishment is neutral and hoped that it remains neutral tomorrow.
Talking to media persons, Yousaf Raza Gillani expressed confidence that opposition will win elections for Senate top positons and said that arrangements have been made to stop horse-trading.
Meanwhile, vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz, in a tweet, said that senators of opposition are being called and asked not to vote for PDM candidate in elections of Chairman and Deputy Chairman Senate.
The PML-N leader further said that some of the senators, who received that calls have recorded the evidence.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Senate would elect its chairman and deputy chairman through secret ballot after oath-taking of 48 newly elected members of Upper House of the Parliament on Friday.
According to the Senate Secretariat, the session would meet in the morning for oath-taking of the newly elected senators after which the session will be adjourned.
After the adjournment of the session, nomination papers for the chairman and deputy chairman would be submitted.
