ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, who was PDM’s joint candidate for Senate seat from Islamabad, has said that he seeks the support of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in the election of Senate Chairman.

According to details, a delegation of MQM-P met with newly elected Senator Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday and discussed important issues related to Senate elections.

Talking to media after the meeting, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said that we have fought the Senate election in a constitutional manner and asked for MQM’s support on behalf of PDM.

The former Prime Minister said that after the Senate elections, there is a sense of jubilation across the country. PDM has shown that it has the majority, he added.

“Why did the PM have to take a vote of confidence? The votes that I got showed lack of confidence in the government”, he said.

He further said that Imran Khan was advised that if he takes a vote of confidence, no one would bother him for 6 months.

Earlier, MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed the National Assembly after PM Imran Khan received vote of confidence from 178 parliamentarians, saying that bringing change in the country is not only a slogan of Prime Minister Imran Khan, but also his promise and intension.

He congratulated the premier over gaining the confidence of the House and said, “The allies are supporting the government in this tough time and their opinion must be sought at the time of decision making. We are here to give confidence to the nation.”
