Senate elections: PM Imran chairs meeting of parliamentary party
PM has cancelled all the official activities and directed the leaders to attend the meeting
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has chaired a meeting of parliamentary party in Islamabad today (Tuesday) and discussed the plan for Senate elections.
During the session, the participants have deliberated upon the objections raised by the provincial organizations on the matter of tickets for Senate elections. The decision of allotting tickets to different candidates was also reviewed.
The members also finalized the strategy for the victory of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates in the Senate polls.
Sources told that the premier had cancelled all the official activities and directed the parliamentary leaders to attend the session.
It is to be mentioned here that the list of candidates contesting in Senate polls will be published today while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 17 and 18.
The candidates can file appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers on February 20 and the last date for disposing of these appeals is 23rd of this month.
The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on February 25 while polling for the forty-eight of the Senate seats will be held on the 3rd of March at the Parliament house Islamabad and the four provincial assemblies.
