Attaullah Tarar wanted to gain attention by faking arrest: Firdous Ashiq Awan

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has termed the alleged arrest of PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar a political stunt and said that he was never taken into custody by police.

Talking to media in Lahore, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that PML-N is known for its showmanship and deceit. Police had information of illegal weapons in Abid Raza’s car and seizing the opportunity, Atta Tarar sat in the police van by himself.

The Special Assistant said that Atta Tarar and Abid Raza caused chaos at the scene. He can influence his party but no one else will be fazed by his antics, she added.

She said that Atta Tarar probably wants to reach the Senate and is trying to gain attention through cheap tactics.

The PML-N leader was ‘arrested’ from Wazirabad on Friday and released shortly after the news came to light.

PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb had confirmed the arrest while the reason for his arrest and the police station where he was being taken were unknown.

Attaullah Tarar was arrested during election campaign of his party’s candidate Syeda Nosheen Zahray Shah in Daska for by-elections of NA-75.
