ECC likely to approve summary for pre-booking of COVID-19 vaccine today
A summary of $150 million for advance booking of vaccine purchase has been prepared.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – An important meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will be held today (Friday) during which the federal government summary for pre-booking of coronavirus vaccine will be approved, Dunya News reported.
The federal government has decided to pre-book the purchase of coronavirus vaccine.
A summary of $150 million for advance booking of vaccine purchase has been prepared. The vaccine will be purchased as part of the government’s coronavirus relief measures. The summary is expected to be approved by the ECC in its meeting on Friday.
The coronavirus vaccine will be available in the first or second quarter of next year. Technical experts for vaccines have estimated the cost of purchasing the vaccines to be $150 million.
The health ministry initially plans to buy vaccines for 10 million people. The purchase of the vaccine will be in accordance with the PEPRA Rules and the EPI program.
