IHC rejects petition against ban on indoor marriage ceremonies
The national institution has taken its decision and the court cannot question it, the IHC said.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC), while apologizing from interfering in the national level decisions, has on Wednesday rejected the petition filed by the Marriage Hall Association against ban on marriages at indoor halls and wrapped up the plea.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah said in his remarks that deaths did not occur due to coronavirus but because of our irresponsible behavior. He said what happed in Gilgit-Baltistan during election campaign was discriminatory conduct as the poor were gathered in rallies amidst COVID-19.
Justice Athar Minallah said we lost a valuable chief justice due to this pandemic and nobody knows who will be the next victim of the virus. Prime Minister Imran Khan should set an example for others during these conditions, he remarked.
The IHC chief justice added that we have to trust the incumbent government and this court is also subject to the government decisions. The national institution has taken its decision and the court cannot question it under such uncommon time, Justice Athar Minallah said.
