Daniel Pearl murder case: SC approves Sindh govt's appeals

Justice Qazi Ameen asked to prove the confession of suspect through proper record.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Monday has approved appeals of Sindh government regarding American journalist Daniel Pearl’s murder case.

During the proceedings, the court has also accepted the plea to make Danial Pearl’s parents party in the case.

Meanwhile, lawyer Farooq H. Naek told the court that suspect Ahmed Omer Sheikh has admitted to the crime over which, Justice Qazi Ameen asked to prove the confession through proper record.

Decisions of murder cases cannot be announced on the basis of fictional stories, the judge remarked.

Let it be known that an anti-terrorism court had handed over death sentence to Ahmed Omer Sheikh and life terms to Fahad Naseem, Salman Saqib and Sheikh Adil on July 15, 2002 for abducting Daniel Pearl for ransom and killing him afterwards.

Daniel Pearl was working as the South Asia Bureau Chief of The Wall Street Journal.
