Driver tried to apply brakes after car bonnet infront of him broke away and hit the van: Police

NOORIABAD (Dunya News) – At least 15 people were killed while several others sustained burns as a passenger van turned turtle and caught fire on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9) near Nooriabad on Saturday night.

According to details, the mishap took place when the vehicle driver tried to apply brakes after the bonnet of a car in front of him broke away and hit the van.



The van overturned and caught fire after taking a number of turns, the police personnel told.

They further said that the bodies cannot be recognized immediately as they are completely charred however, DNA tests will be conducted for identification.



The flow of traffic has also been suspended on the Hyderabad-Karachi section of M-9 for rescue operation.

Moreover, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers and chief secretary expressed grief over the loss of the precious lives.
