Nationwide anti-polio drive begins
The campaign will be continued till September 25.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A five-day countrywide polio eradication campaign has begun on Monday to administer anti-polio vaccine to forty million children below five years age.
As per details, this is the first nationwide campaign in the country after four-month suspension due coronavirus outbreak.
The scope of this campaign is much larger and seeks to vaccinate all children under the age of five through door-to-door visits by almost 270,000 vaccinators in all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
The polio workers have received a comprehensive training on how to give the drops to the children safely within the COVID-19 context.
The polio eradication programme has put strict measures in place for all staff following the government’s set guidelines on COVID-19 preventative measures.
The campaign will be continued till September 25.
