Culprits of motorway gang rape will be apprehended soon: Usman Buzdar
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the perpetrators of Lahore motorway gang rape will be arrested soon.
The Chief Minister Punjab said this while talking exclusively to Dunya News program ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’. He discussed important issues including Motorway Gang Rape Case, CCPO Lahore appointment.
Motorway gang rape case
While talking about the recent incident of rape on the motorway Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the area where the incident took place has been geo-fenced. We cannot neglect our duties. On this incident, we have formed a committee headed by the Home Secretary. Whatever the outcome, we will present it to the nation.
"We will soon arrest the culprits," he said. Every aspect of this incident will be investigated, we will not run away from our duties.
Appointment of CCPO is the prerogative of the provincial government
He said that the PTI government has come into power for the first time. Some things are being over-reported in the media.
We have to look at things administratively. The appointment of CCPO is the prerogative of the provincial government. You will get good results very soon, he added.
Matter regarding IGP Punjab’s transfer
Talking about the transfer of Shoaib Dastgir, the Chief Minister said that 5 IGP’s were changed during the tenure of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
This is part of the service, this is how the system works. We are accountable to the people. Whatever decisions we make, we take in good faith.
Time to deliver to the people
Answering a question, he said that PTI has worked hard in Center and Punjab and now is the time to deliver to the people.
He said that we have worked hard and given policy in every department. Our administration has acted in good faith on Coronavirus. We gave allowances to the doctors.
While talking about the South Punjab Province he said that we have set up a secretariat for the South. There is a long list of our projects which I am satisfied with.
Measures for the betterment of agriculture sector and farmers
He said that Punjab is the food basket of Pakistan. We have done a lot of work on agricultural projects.
We are protecting the interests of farmers. In our time, farmers have been paid in full. Things are getting much better. When we took over the government, I remember the farmers gathered outside Lahore and protested. Our provincial government negotiated with the farmers. In a committee, we decided that the farmers should be given relief, said CM.
Local body elections in Punjab province
Sardar Usman Buzdar said that unless the powers are given to the lower level it cannot work in favor of the people. When people have power, they will be able to manage things on their own.
He said that our goal is to bring backward areas on par with developed areas as it is also their right to get facilities.
PTI is bringing local government system and people will directly elect their representatives as mayors. It will have good results and you will see for yourself, he added.
CM said that we ve done a lot of things, people will welcome us and you will see in the result of elections.
PTI with majority and allies in Punjab
Answering another important question, the Chief Minister said that our majority in Punjab is very small. We carry our allies along. We have the lowest majority in any assembly in Pakistan.
While answering about the criticism he said that it started even before I became the Chief Minister. The Prime Minister has trusted me, it is my duty to fulfill his trust.
He said when I come to the office in the morning, it is to work in good faith. However, administrative issues always remain. There is always room for improvement. There are many areas that have improved a lot. We want to use technology to minimize human intervention, he added.
Allegations against Punjab Chief Minister
Talking about the allegations against himself, he said that none of them could be proved. The NAB called me but no charges were brought against me and my associates.
He said that the assets I declared to the Election Commission, still are the same. Instructions have been issued that if any work is being done in the name of Chief Minister s Office, it should be informed immediately.
CM said that the allegations made against me by the media are untrue. I have also submitted my detailed reply to the NAB.
Performance of Punjab Government
Talking about the performance of the Punjab government, he said that our job is to legislate and formulate policies for the people.
He said that record legislation was enacted during our tenure. There is no precedent of strong opposition and such legislation. We passed 58 acts and enacted more than 25 ordinances. The Punjab Assembly has enacted 38 laws.
