COAS, Japanese defense minister agree to boost security ties

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Japanese Defense Minister have spoken via video link and Issues of mutual interest and relations between the armed forces were discussed during the conversation.

The two leaders also discussed security co-operation and Pakistan s commitment to fight against Coronavirus, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Japanese Defense Minister appreciated Pakistan s efforts to eradicate Coronavirus and locusts and said that the efforts of Pakistan Army for peace, stability and eradication of terrorism in the region were commendable.

The two leaders also agreed to start staff-level talks, training, joint exercises and take steps against piracy after the Coronavirus situation improved. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked Japan for its offer of cooperation to eradicate locusts.
