PM Imran Khan and Sri Lankan President agrees to maintain close ties
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to maintain close ties to strengthen regional cooperation to tackle the coronavirus and other challenges and seize opportunities.
The agreement was reached during a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the President of Sri Lanka on Thursday. The two leaders have discussed bilateral relations, the regional situation and many other issues.
Prime Minister Imran Khan praised Sri Lanka s efforts to tackle the coronavirus. He apprised Sri Lankan president of the current situation in Pakistan and the steps taken by the government to control the disease.
Imran Khan also briefed the Sri Lankan President on his global initiative for debt relief to developing countries to reduce the impact of the epidemic on society and the economy.
The Prime Minister apprised of his position on the dire situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir and called for action for a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
Imran Khan also invited Sri Lankan President to visit Pakistan after improvement in coronavirus situation.
