Always strived to have all provinces on-board: Prime Minister
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the federal government is cooperating equally with all provinces and providing all possible assistance to them.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, the Prime Minister said that no country can withstand an extended lockdown, and the strategy adopted by Pakistan against coronavirus was unique. He said that the virus has led to economic strife in even the richest countries and although cases are still growing in the United States, it has started easing lockdowns across the country.
The Prime Minister said that the government’s Ehsaas Cash program had saved countless people from starvation. He, once again, urged strict implementation of SOPs, as success against the coronavirus is reliant on it. He said that the public is not taking precautionary measures seriously, which is why action will be taken in hotspot areas.
He said that the federation was giving full support to the provinces and had them on board in every single decision. He said that the NDMA has distributed goods equally in all provinces, regardless of whose government is in that province.
On the topic of devolution, he said that as much as the transition of powers will be ensured to the lower level, it will lead to achieve a level of better governance system.
The Prime Minister said we are bringing the best local bodies system in the country’s history in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said Village Council was established in KPK to ensure transition of powers to the people at lower level.
