Sugar Mills Association has written to the Govt offering sugar at Rs 70 per kg

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has written another letter to the Ministry of Industry and Production as the people are still deprived of relief due to the government not purchasing sugar.

In light of the orders of the Islamabad High Court, the Sugar Mills Association wrote a letter to the Secretary Cabinet Division on June 12 and offered to supply 60,000 tons of sugar at Rs 70 per kg.

The letter says that the association is acting on the directive of the Court and its own goodwill, calling on the government to take immediate steps to provide sugar to the public.

Due to the government’s inaction, the Sugar Mills Association itself has set up sales points across the country to supply sugar to the people at a cost of Rs 70 per kg.

The Sugar Mills Association has now written another letter to the ministry, in view of the government’s attitude, asking it to fulfill its obligation to procure sugar under court orders. The Sugar Mills Association has complied with the court order by providing cheap sugar to the people through its own outlets, the statement said.
