Punjab govt allows markets, malls to open till 10pm

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government has increased the timings of the markets and shopping malls ahead of Eidul Fitr on Thursday.

Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal while formally announcing after the approval of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that all markets in the province will remain open till 10:00 pm from tomorrow (Friday).

The provincial minister said that the Punjab government has also reopened all shrines for visitors, adding that the shrines will remain open for 24 hours.

On Tuesday, the Punjab Cabinet Committee for Coronavirus had issued the notification to open malls and shopping centers in the province.

According to the notification, shopping centers/places can remain open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm throughout the week.

The notification ordered the mall authorities to keep the playgrounds and food courts inside the establishment non-operational for the time being.

The notification also requires shopping centers and plazas to strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) against protection and precaution against coronaviruses established by the government.

The notification also allows small shops and businesses to resume their activities throughout the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
