Election commission directs provinces to take immediate steps for local bodies election
Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have failed to submit the required documents
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of laxity in arrangements for local bodies election and directed provincial government to take immediate steps in this regard.
Election Commission has asked Sindh government to produce the amended local government act and notification of the number of union councils and tehsils in the province. It should be noted that the current term of local government in Sindh will end in August 2020.
The election commission said that Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments have failed to submit the required documents for local bodies election and directed them to immediately rectify the situation.
