AJK promulgates ordinance to take action against hoarders

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Azad Kashmir government has promulgated an ordinance to take strict against hoarders. Ordinance allows government to seize items being hoarded and fine of upto 50% of the value of items can be imposed.

According to Chief Secretary AJK, hoarding of food items and 30 medicines is now a non-bailable offence and those involved in the crime will face an imprisonment of three years.

He further said that involved trader will be fined 50 percent of the value of hoarded items, which will be auctioned later. Relevant officer will have the authority to seize the items without a warrant, he added.

He further informed that special magistrate will hear case against hoarders and informer will be granted 10 percent of the amount.
