PIA has agreed to provide protective equipment to airline captains

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Negotiations between Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) have been successful with the PIA agreeing to provide protective equipment to airline captains.

After the successful negotiations that took place in Director Aviation Division’s office, a written agreement was signed between Vice President PALPA Captain Bajrani and Director PIA Air Commodore Jawad Zafar.

According to the agreement, PIA agreed to ensure provision of safety equipment to pilots and disinfection of airplanes which the pilots will monitor themselves. The disinfecting crew will be trained by PIA.

A CAA inspector will inspect the disinfected airplane and issue a clearance certificate, however, if the pilot Is dissatisfied by the plane’s disinfection, it will not be allowed to take flight.

In case a problem arises after receiving the green light from the pilot, PIA would not be held responsible for the issue. Lastly, any pilot that has apprehensions about the coronavirus safety protocols will have to inform the management in writing.
