Most sanitizers in local markets sub-standard: Dr Zafar Mirza

According to research carried out by the PSQCA, most of the sanitizers were of poor or low quality

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Prime Minister s Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza has said that most of the hand sanitizers available in Pakistani markets are sub-standard.

During a media briefing, he said that the estimates about the coronavirus in some areas are not final and they are assessing the possible damages that could be caused by the coronavirus in the future. However, he urged people not to fall for speculations on social media and instead follow the directives given by the government.

He said that when buying sanitizers, it is important to ensure the quality of the product as most of the sanitizers available in the market are sub-standard. According to research carried out by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), which comes under the Ministry of Science, most of the sanitizers were of poor or low quality.

The Assistant Special Health Office said that the National Command and Control Center (NCC) demonstrates national solidarity as it carries representation from the Federal, Provincial, Civil and Military organizations, coordinating and monitoring the situation in the country.

During his visit to the Quarantine Center in expo center, theSpecial Assistant said that travelers coming from overseas are tested on-the-spot at the airport and their samples are sent for testing while the passengers themselves go under quarantine.

He said that staff in the quarantine centers is working throughout their shifts, ensuring all basic facilities are available to the patients including separate rooms.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that the instructions issued by the federal government are being strictly implemented. Of all the flights that have arrived in the country so far, none of their passengers was infected by the virus, which is a welcome sign.

The Special Assistant said that there has also been a restoration of belief in our system and its capability. The testing system was operating smoothly although it is still being gradually increased, he added.
