Coronavirus: Sindh govt to decide over opening educational institutions today

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government will make final decision regarding opening of educational institutions across the province from March 16 in a meeting today (Thursday).

In a statement, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that if the situation won’t get worse due to the coronavirus then the schools will commence from coming Monday (March 16).  

On the other hand, Sindh Health Department has issued an advisory for educational institutions, stating that any student or employee of all public and private school, college or university who has arrived in Pakistan within last fifteen days from abroad or has a family member who has arrived from abroad, he/she shall not be allowed to send their children to schools, colleges and universities till they complete 14 days stay in their home after arrival in Pakistan as a measure of quarantine.

All parents shall inform the concerned institutes if there is a history of travel of a family member.

Any student, family or employee of all public and private schools, colleges and universities of Sindh province having cough or body ache or fever or shortness of breath or flu shall not be allowed to enter school premises.

Earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached to 19 and all have brought this from abroad.

In a statement, the special assistant said that all are stable and there was no evidence of local spread.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that the most important to limit the spread of coronavirus is to ensure that we observe hygiene by washing hands properly, avoid touching our face and keep distance with sick people.

He said that the government is working hard to contain the spread, but we all need to take our part in his fight.
