Punjab Apex Committee meeting underway to analyse measures for curbing coronavirus

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A special meeting of the Punjab Apex Committee is being held in Lahore to examine preventive measures for restricting the outbreak of new coronavirus.
The meeting is being attended by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the corps commander and other concerned officials. For fighting the deadly virus, a policy will be approved.
Besides, Special Assistant to the PM on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said on Wednesday that the federal and provincial governments have been working in cohesion to contain the coronavirus.
Talking to the media persons in Rawalpindi, he said the situation “is not serious to such an extent for closing down the educational institutions in the federal capital.”
He said it was because of the government’s efforts that the virus has not spread in Pakistan as compared to other countries. He said the public should take necessary precautionary measures to stay safe.
The special assistant said the government has been in contact with Pakistani students in China and “they are being fully taken care of with the help of China.”
Responding to a question, Dr Zafar Mirza said a national programme has been prepared to tackle dengue this year through a standardised approach.
Earlier, addressing a conference, he said the government s health reforms agenda was aimed at achieving the universal health coverage. He said the primary healthcare services were being strengthened to realise this vision.
The special assistant said that a programme titled Yaran-e-Waton would be launched to enable Pakistani doctors serving abroad to make their contributions in bringing improvement in the country s healthcare system.
