Elimination of corruption PTI government's top priority: Punjab CM
He said people were deprived of even the basic necessities of life due to corrupt practices
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that elimination of corruption was a priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government as ‘coronavirus’ of corruption was weakened the foundations of the country in the past.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said people were deprived of even the basic necessities of life due to corrupt practices during the past governments. “Even children are fully aware of the corruption committed by the past rulers,” he said adding that the only way forward was to eliminate corruption at every level.
The chief minister emphasised that across-the-board accountability would help the country achieve its real destination. The incumbent government was ensuring transparency in running affairs of the country, he added.
On the other hand, the Punjab CM directed the authorities concerned to ensure the best cleanliness arrangements in Lahore, saying that the system should be improved through round-the-clock working.
The CM was chairing a meeting at his office on Tuesday to review cleanliness arrangements for the city, the future model and affairs pertaining to Lahore Waste Management Company.
He said that the solid waste should be timely removed and effective monitoring be ensured. The cleanliness system should be further improved by dividing Lahore into different zones, he said adding that the provincial metropolis should appear neat and clean and citizens should not face any difficulty in that regard.
The secretary local government gave a briefing about the new model of cleanliness. Advisor PHA Asif Mahmood, Chairman LWMC Riaz Hameed Chaudhry, and others attended the meeting.
