Int'l community should take action of riots triggered by Indian mobs against Muslims: Qureshi
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday has said that admiration of Pakistan by United States (US) President Donald Trump in India vindicates that Islamabad made unprecedented efforts against terrorism and rendered huge sacrifices.
In a statement, the minister claimed that India media has used Trump’s press conference for its own interests. He further urged the international community to take notice of violence and riots triggered by mobs of extremists in New Delhi.
The FM said the US President Trump has witnessed the ransacking of properties and mosques besides casualties in Indian capital during his visit.
Now Indian stubbornness has been exposed and efforts of Pakistan for peace are being acknowledged by the world, he told.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi went on to say that Pakistan has always welcomed India for dialogue to resolve Kashmir issue where lockdown has continued for two hundred and seven days.
The reaction came after death toll rose to 18 with at least 150 injured, from some of the Indian capital‘s worst sectarian violence in years as rampaging rioters in several parts of the city set fire to buildings and vehicles, and attacked journalists.
Protests against a contentious citizenship law began on a smaller scale Sunday but descended Monday and Tuesday into running battles between Hindus and Muslims in New Delhi, where rioters armed with stones, swords and even guns were out in force.
The riots coincided with the visit of US President Donald Trump, who held bilateral meetings with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday.
