Five new polio cases surface in KP
The number of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 2019 has increased to 88.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Five more polio cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday after which the number of polio cases in the province from January 2019 has increased to 88, Dunya News reported.
According to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 26 months girl of District Bannu was diagnosed with the polio virus. The polio virus has also been detected in 24 months old girl in Dera Ismail Khan, 30 months old girl in Tank, five months old boy also from Tank and 6 months old boy in District Mohmand.
Pakistan is among three countries in the world, including Afghanistan and Nigeria, where polio virus still exists and the country remains under a polio-linked travel restriction imposed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In 2014, the WHO made it mandatory for all people travelling from Pakistan to carry a polio vaccination certificate.
