Summary LHC has accepted a petition for hearing against PTV for not airing speech of the opposition leader.
The petition filed by lawyer Waqar Ahmed Chaudhry submitted that opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed addressed the NA session on May 9 but it was not aired by PTV that was violation of constitution.PTV managing director (MD) and the information secretary were made respondents to the petition.The petitioner pleaded that this act of the PTV management was against rules and regulations of the free media and requested the court to summon PTV management and Ministry of Information for submission of their reply.The registrar office objected to the petition and maintained that the matter was related with Islamabad that’s why the petition should be filed in Islamabad High Court. The petitioner also challenged this objection, after which, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry accepted the petition for hearing and rejected the objection of the registrar office.
