Pervaiz Elahi debunks govt stats about dengue-related deaths

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s statistics on dengue-related deaths, and decided to form a committee to review the matter.

Pervaiz Elahi expressed that the dengue virus has created a chaos in Punjab. “Rawalpindi witnessed more casualties but the deputy commission of Lahore was changed,” he said.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) president said that the government statistics are incorrect. He asserted that the PML-N helped in preventing the disease whereas the incumbent government replaced the team which was effective in this matter. “The law minister should form a committee on the issue of dengue-related deaths,” he added.

He also sought details of dengue-related deaths in the province. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid informed that 37 deaths have been witnessed so far in Punjab.

Dr Yasmin Rashid expressed that Lahore is the most affected city after Rawalpindi. “We have taken vigorous measures and followed SOP to end the dengue virus,” she asserted.
