Treason Case: UN opposes Musharraf's death penalty
"The United Nations stands against the death penalty," said Dujarric.
(Dunya News) - The United Nations has opposed the death sentence handed down to former President General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf in absentia for high treason.
A spokesman of the UN Secretary General António Guterres was addressing a news briefing at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that he understood that the case is in an appeal process, but the UN has long been opposed to capital punishment. “The United Nations stands against the death penalty,” he added.
