JUI-F closes highways in parts of country

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has closed highways in several parts of the country, expanding the scope of protest against the government under Plan B.
A sit-in was organized on Hub River Road in Karachi. JUI-F workers also closed Sukkur and Ghotki National Highway and staged a sit-in. Traffic is also suspended on the Indus Highway in Taunsa Sharif, while protests are being held in various places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, Plan B of Maulana Fazlur Rehman has begun to be implemented. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has allowed a sit-in under the leadership of Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro on Hub River Road in Karachi. JUI-F protestors barricaded the highway linking Karachi with the Hub Road. Traffic between Sindh and Balochistan was partially suspended.
Land connection between Sindh and Punjab was cut off, resulting in long queues of vehicles.
Nowshera GT Road has been closed in Hakimabad. According to local leaders, only the ambulance will be allowed to pass. Traffic was also affected at Pul Chowk in Malakand while Indus Highway was blocked on Link Road in Karak which caused severe traffic congestion for commuters.
In Bhatar Gram, the PML-N and ANP activists, including the JUI-F workers, closed down the Silk Road. People are facing severe problems due to the closure of the road at Chattar Plain.
On the other hand, Maulana Abdul Wasi, the Emir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan, has issued a schedule to block various national highways in the province from November 16 to 18 under Plan B. The Quetta-DG Khan highway will be blocked in Khuzdar and Loralai on Friday.
He announced the schedule for blocking the national highways in a press conference at the provincial office. The Quetta-Jacobabad highway will be closed at Dera Murad Jamali on November 16. Quetta-Taftan highway and Fort Abdullah highway on November 17, while Quetta-Gwadar and Quetta-Karachi highway will be closed on November 18.
He said that in view of the weather conditions of Balochistan, the national highways will be closed from morning to evening and after November 18, a schedule of shutting down the entire province will be announced on the same day.
Responding to a question, Maulana Abdul Wasi said that the government’s roots in Islamabad have been cut off and now it has to be demolished by protesting on national highways. “The Azadi March and the sit-in was peaceful and will remain that way,” he added.
