ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Narendra Modi administration faced embarrassing situation on the platform 188 countries when Pakistan’s Senator Raza Rabbani was elected member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union unopposed.

Senator Raza Rabbani and India’s Shashi Tharoor were the candidates for Inter-Parliamentary Union membership.

The embarrassing moment emerged when India failed to muster support for the success of its candidate Shashi Tharoor to become Inter-Parliamentary Union member.

Sensing certain defeat, India withdrew the candidature of Shashi Tharoor before the start of secret ballot and Pakistan’s Senator Raza Rabbani was elected member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union unopposed.
