Iran welcomes PM Imran Khan's offer to mediate talks with Saudi Arabia.
TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Iran has welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s offer to mediate talks with Saudi Arabia following the ongoing tensions between both countries, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif – while giving an interview to a Turkish channel – praised Imran Khan’s offer and maintained that there is no other option but to hold talks with Saudi Arabia.
Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran is ready for direct talks with Saudi Arabia as well as through a mediator. Buying weapons is not a guarantee of safety, Saudi Arabia must keep good relations with neighboring countries and not trust the United States, he stressed.
It is worth mentioning here that PM Imran Khan is expected to leave for Iran on Sunday on a one-day trip where he will meet top Iranian leadership. Imran Khan will hold talks with Iran regarding tensions with Saudi Arabia and depart for Riyadh from Iran.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeem ul Haque had also confirmed the premier’s visit to Iran.
