PML-N leader Rana Afzal passes away

Rana Afzal was a politician and retired army officer who served as minister of state for finance.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former minister of state and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Afzal Khan passed away in a hospital in Faisalabad on Friday.

According to family sources, the former state minister was suffering from cardiac issues and was admitted in Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology and passed away while under treatment for last couple of days.

He was a politician and retired army officer who served as minister of state for finance and economic affairs in the PML-N cabinet from December 2017 to May 2018.

The PML-N had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, from June 2013 to May 2018. Previously, he had been a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2008 to 2013.

On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over Rana Afzal’s demise and said that he [Rana Afzal] was an asset of the party, adding that he was close and trusted companion of incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N president said that Rana Afzal’s services for democracy, masses and party will be remembered.
