Five-member panel formed to resolve Pakistani medical degree matter
The delegation will include representatives of medical universities and HECs.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has constituted a five-member commission to discuss the issue of non-recognition of Pakistani doctors degrees in Saudi Arabia.
The committee will include representatives of medical universities and HECs. HEC has expressed concern over the decision to doctors, with MD and MS degrees, to leave Saudi Arabia.
The five-member panel will contact the Saudi authorities to resolve the matter. In addition, the Higher Education Commission has constituted a high level committee to address the challenges of medical education. The committee will include Chairman HEC, PMDC and Health Ministry officials.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries have refused to accept the century-old postgraduate degree programme of Pakistan — MS (Master of Surgery) and MD (Doctor of Medicine) — axing it from the eligibility list of the highest paid tier.
