24/7 opening of the Torkham point along Pakistan-Afghanistan border is a significant step forward.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Terming a recent statement of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs as irresponsible and unwarranted, Foreign Office spokesman stated that Pakistan- Afghan border is an internationally recognised, official border between the two countries in accordance with all relevant international laws and conventions.

In a statement issued on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said that Pakistan believes that 24/7 opening of the Torkham point along Pakistan-Afghanistan border is a significant step forward to facilitate the people and traders of both sides. However, such statements only serve to undermine the resolve for peace and cooperation between the two countries and should be avoided.

Earlier today, two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Mohmand district on Pak-Afghan border, Inter-Services Public Relations said.

According to details, Major Adeel Shahid and Sepoy Faraz Hussain embraced martyrdom as the squad – under Major Adeel – was supervising fencing work in an area which carried critical infiltration route.

The IED was planted by terrorists from across the border.
