Met Office forecasts heavy rain in Karachi

New monsoon system entered upper, central and southern parts of the country.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain in Karachi as new monsoon system entered upper, central and southern parts of the country including Karachi on late Friday night, Dunya News reported.

According to Met Office, seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and adjoining area. Monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating upper, central and southern parts of the country. A westerly wave is also active over upper parts of the country.

Isolated moderate to heavy falls are also expected in lower Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions in Sindh province, Kalat, Zhob, Naseerabad, Sibbi divisions in Blochistan from Friday (night) to Sunday.

The Met Office said widespread rains/wind-thunderstorm is expected in Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir during next 24 hours.

All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures during the forecast period.
