Govt removes 'profession' column off passport, stays for govt employees

Immigration officials asked govt employees to obtain new passports by declaring their profession.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government on Friday has removed the column of profession from the passport for nationals except the public servants whereas an action will be taken against the government employees after November who will hide their employment.

According to the notification of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, time period to change the passport has been extended by two months for the government employees.

Government employees will be required to submit the no-objection certificate (NOC) of the concerned department while a new passport will be issued after confirming their jobs.

Immigration officials have said that government employees who have obtained passports by hiding the profession should contact them immediately. After November, action will be taken against the government employees who are hiding their profession.
