Father of slain MQM leader Imran Farooq passes away in Karachi
Farooq Ahmed was buried at the Shohada graveyard beside his son.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Funeral of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Assembly member Farooq Ahmed, father of slain MQM leader Imran Farooq, was attended by Governor Sindh, Mayor Karachi and MQM leadership on Friday when he passed away after prolonged illness.
Former MQM Convenor Dr Imran Farooq’s father Farooq Ahmed was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi when he breathed his last at the age of 80. Funeral prayers for the deceased were offered at Safa Masjid in Kareemabad area following Jummah prayers. He was buried at the Shohada graveyard in Yasinabad beside his son, who was assassinated outside his home in London in September 2010.
The funeral was attended by a large number of workers including Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, MQM Pakistan and (Pak Sarzameen Party ) PSP leaders including Farooq Sattar and others attended the funeral.
MQM-Pakistan Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, PSP Chairman Mustafa Kamal, Minister of Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani expressed deep sorrow over the former MQM Parliamentarian’s death and offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
