President Alvi, PM Imran condemn DI Khan terrorist attack

The president said the whole nation was resolute and united in the fight against terrorism.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the incident.

In his message, President Dr Arif Alvi prayed for the high ranks of those martyred and the bereaved families to bear the loss with fortitude.

He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured. The president said the whole nation was resolute and united in the fight against terrorism.

On the other hand, in his message, PM Imran Khan prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls and bereaved families to bear the loss with equanimity.

He also directed for provision of best medical treatment to the injured and also prayed for their early recovery.

On Sunday morning, a burqa-clad female suicide bomber killed four people and injured several others at the main gate of the Trauma Centre of District Headquarter Hospital in Kotlan Syedan on the outskirts of the northwestern city of Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

District police chief Salim Riaz said that police were helping move the bodies of two of their colleagues – who had been shot dead by militants on Saturday – when the suicide bomber struck. Immediately, the injured persons were rushed to the CMH Hospital.

"The female bomber, aged around 28 years, came on foot and blew herself up, killing two policemen and four civilians and wounding 13 others," he said.
