IHC asks law ministry to designate new judge at Arshad Malik's place

The law ministry has been asked to appoint a new judge in the accountability court No.2

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Following removal of accountability court judge Arshad Malik from his position till the investigation into a controversial video is concluded, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked the law ministry to appoint a new judge at his designation, according to a letter written on the directives of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah.

According to details, the law ministry has been asked to appoint a new judge in the accountability court No. 2.

The video, in which former judge Arshad Malik, could be seen, was released by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz, who claimed that the sentence granted to her father Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference was made under pressure or blackmailing.

However, former judge Malik wrote a letter to the IHC, and clarified his position that Sharif had offered him bribe in exchange of not announcing the sentence to him in the same case.

Moreover, the former judge claimed that representatives of the Sharif family had threatened him with dire consequences.
