Pakistan Railways' deficit reduced by Rs4 billion: Sheikh Rasheed

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said on Tuesday that Pakistan Railways’ deficit has been decreased by Rs4 billion during the fiscal year 2018-19.

Addressing a news conference in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, he said the deficit has been reduced from Rs36.62 billion to Rs32.59 billion.

The minister expressed hope that the railways would be free from the fiscal deficit in the next five years.

Ahmed said 24 new passenger and two freight trains have been launched during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Rawalpindi-Karachi bound Sir Syed Express passenger train in Rawalpindi tomorrow,” he said, adding that the Sargodha Express was being extended up to Mianwali.
