Consumers to pay 151pc additional bills after proposed hike in gas rates.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The consumers – using less than 100 units – will have to pay 151 percent additional bills after the proposed hike in gas rates by the Petroleum Division, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
The gas bill of 73 units will surge from Rs409 to Rs 1140 (151 percent increase), of 151 units from Rs1672 to Rs3471 (106 percent increase) and of 357 units from Rs11589 to Rs16526 (43 percent increase) after the recommended prices.
The rates of fertilizers, cement, CNG, bakery products, tandoori roti and other items will increase after the surge in gas prices.
The rate of a fertilizer sack will become Rs2027 after hike by Rs207 and the average price of a sack of cement will be Rs580 after an increase of Rs15.
Likewise, CNG prices will surge to Rs118 per kilogram after increase of Rs 14 and tandoori roti will be sold for Rs12 instead of Rs10. Rs5-10 will be increased over bakery items.
It is worth mentioning here that the Petroleum Division on Monday forwarded a summary to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) recommending hike in gas prices.
The ECC will review the summary in its next meeting.
