Railways Minister asserted that there would be no gate after ML-1 as all tracks will be fenced now.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed took responsibility and apologized to the nation over Jinnah Express train accident which took place in Hyderabad yesterday.

While talking in a conference, Railways Minister expressed, “I take responsibility for train colliding with the freight car, it was a human error and I apologize to the nation”. Whatever we are earning, we are spending it to improve the railways, he continued.

He said that he has spent Rs2 billion on six stations which does not revenue even Rs6000 but he is trying to bring the trains back to tracks.

Shiekh Rasheed said that ML-1 to PC-1 has been constructed while they are also going to open the tenders for ML-2. “We will submit our financial report after June 30”, he expressed.

Railways Minister announced that a committee has been formed to provide the permanent status to all Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) employees.

On June 20, at least three people were killed and several others injured when two trains collided near Hyderabad on Thursday.

A driver, assistant driver and a guard were killed when Jinnah Express passenger train travelling to Lahore from Karachi hit a goods train that had stopped at Makki Shah Crossing near Hyderabad Railway Station.

Train accidents are common in Pakistan, where railways have seen decades of decline due to corruption, mismanagement and lack of investment.
